on monday, my baby girl, R, wore shoes for the first time in her life - she only started walking without holding on to something two weeks ago. she was a little irritated at first because they disturbed her balance but then she went off to explore the playground. she was particularly interested in the slide. she also tried eating the bark mulch only once and when she decided it didn't taste nice just presented the pieces she picked up to me. i was very glad that her big brother, T, is such a good and reliable little playground-visitor because she really took up all my attention - she was so excited =)
i turned 25 this week - a quarter century... wow... and i have two kids already...
we spent the day at my mother's. the first really warm day. the sun was shining all day and in the early afternoon we could even go outside without a coat on. the kids played happily in a gravel pit my mother kept for them to play in when the garden was done.
my sister was there too which was very nice because i don't get to see her as much as i would like to as she is usually very busy. so whenever we can spend time together i enjoy it as much as possible. the kids do too - she really is the most awesome aunt (well, one of them anyway - there are two more and they are the most awesome ones too =).
we played tag in the last rays of sunshine before it got too chilly and we had to go inside.
there was a surprise waiting for me:
my mum had ordered surprise-cake! from the same bakery that had made our wedding cake. they just make the most delicious cakes. and they even remembered that i love that white fudge so much and asked my mum if they should put some on. such lovely people... i had totally not expected that! i would have been happy with some cocoa and cookies and then that wonderful cake! it was yummy...
an orange birthday-candle (one of my most favourite colours) and a posy of early spring flowers from the garden: snowdrops, primulas, hellebores, crocus (they didn't like being put in a vase though), some ivy and little twigs with fresh leaf buds on them. my mum is really good at that sort of thing.
i also got this huge bunch of freesias. they are in my top three favourite flowers list. it depends on the season but in spring they always take the first place. they smell divine and my mum went to three different flower shops to get this many for me. i love her.
my dad and my brother came too and we had such a nice celebration. the only one i missed was my hubby who had to attend a conference - but he joined us soon after and there was plenty of cake left.
on wednesday it rained most of the day. actually it was pouring and on our way home from kindergarten we got wet even though we were in full rain gear. i had actually planned on taking the camera and photographing some liverleaf that are almost in full bloom already. but then i decided not to ruin my camera and postponed that. i finished a birthday card i had been working on and i'll share that soon. it's for my hubby's grandma who's birthday is next week and i guess i will tweak it up to the very last minute.
i hope the rest of the week will be just as nice...
