wow! i haven't posted in a while! sorry about that...
i know my last post was about my sock yarn blanket already but i just wanted to share with you how i got along since then. this is where i left off with row five in the middle of february:
this is where i am now:
i'm only two rows further and it looks so much bigger to me. it's getting hard to take pictures of it...
there are five squares where i had to finish with a different yarn because i ran out of the one i started with: the black and white zebra square
the red-pinkish one on the far left of row six with the lilac top corner
third from the right in row seven with the yellow top corner
fifth from the right in row seven where i picked a different lilac to finish
third from the left in row seven with the red top corner - the red went really well with the red accents in the mostly blue yarn.
at first i thought it would look weird but it's really not that obvious and gets quite lost in the whole of the colourfulness of the blanket. especially since there are several other yarns that have rather sudden colour changes that create a square where the top corner looks like it could be different yarn anyway.
before i'm off again i wanted to show you two squares that were done with the same yarn:
hard to believe these came out of the same ball of yarn. i didn't even pull out any of the yarn or make something else with it between knitting the squares - which would have been hard anyway since it was only a 10g mini ball. the only stretches of yarn not visible are the few inches i needed to darn the ends. this yarn is one of the Opal Hundertwasser colourways - this one is called "Kiss in the Rain" - and these yarns have fabulously long colour repeats with lots of interesting colours and patterns.
EDIT: here's a third square made with "Kiss in the Rain" and it completes a whole colour repeat:
thanks for stopping by and i hope to be back again soon!
have a great day!
