there are only four pairs of socks in this sock post. as mentioned in my last sock post (which was also rather short) i had to take a break from knitting and crocheting for the sake of my hands, wrists and arms.
but i didn't manage to stay away from my yarn and needles completely:
i made pair #136 using "meilenweit colorado 6909" by Lana Grossa. the pattern is Tennarisukka and these were sent as happy mail to someone in need of a wooly hug...
i wore sparkly christmas socks when picking up R from kindergarten in november or so. the weather was bad and we had to take off our shoes before entering the changing room. a friend of mine who was also picking up her son saw my socks and positively squealed with delight about my sparkly christmas socks... i immediately dug up the last ball of sparkly christmas yarn from my stash (woll butt "santa" 5930 from 2015, not available any more) and made pair #137 as a pre-christmas present for her. luckily we have the same size...
pair #138 is a pair of 6-ply socks i made for my dad for christmas. i used a solid blue and various left overs i found in one of my boxes. i'm very happy that my dad can appreciate a pair of fun stripy socks.
that was the last pair of sock i made until now. i finished it on december 24th and since then i only did a little bit of crochet every now and then when my hands allowed it. (they did get rather painful after only a few stitches for a while.)
luckily i had a lot of journals, books and cards to make for an art show...
i started my first new pair of socks exactly four months after i had finished the last one and i was very happy about it. and so far it didn't make my hands hurt!
this is a pair of scrahappy socks. it's pair #139 and i tried to make them as rainbowy as possible. now that i was actively looking for specific colours which i usually don't do when i make socks like these, i noticed that i have very few yarns, self striping and self patterning yarns that is, that have a decent shade of yellow in them.
in the left sock there's only one narrow yellow stripe shortly after the heel and from that i went on to bright green because i couldn't find any more yellow and in the right sock there are a few narrow stripes of yellow around the middle of the foot, but they are interrupted by other colours. i don't mind that at all and i'm very happy how they turned out! i just noticed it...
i guess i could have gotten more and better blending if i had taken some lenghts of yarn off of some of the left-over balls i have to get to exactly the right colour i needed, but that's really not the point when i make these socks. i think the variation in shades and tones and patterns is what makes them fun and interesting and i just love looking at my feet whenever i wear a pair of my scrahappy socks.
lots of love! xxx
