i made another collection of writing journals. "collection" sounds kinda posh but i don't really know what other word to use. i can't call these three a set because to me it's only a set when there are several that are basically all the same. and these aren't the same, i just made them one after the other without much time passing between one and the other. that makes them similar to each other in a way but they are still very different.
the blue one is called "Das Einfache Leben" (= the simple life) and that's what the interior of the journals is: simple.
the green one is called "Geh, wohin dein Herz dich trägt" (= go where your heart takes you) and just because it's green i went with a botany/nature theme and included a few pages from some of my vintage nature guide books about flowers, fruits and trees.
the rusty-red one is a touch more extravagant than the other two. it didn't have such a great title which is why i decided to cover the spine all the way round using a two-tone brocade-like fabric. (i don't think it's real brocade but the flowers are woven into the fabric and the colours are inverted on the other side.) i used a fancy stitch i don't know the name of to bind the two signatures and i stuffed it a little bit more than the other two.
i'm normally not a huge fan of peach colours but i really love this vintage looking shade of peach combined with the rusty colour of the cover and the teal and green papers i used.
i love making books. i really do. i think it's almost like a kind of magic or super power... i mean: i take some papers, do a bit of cutting and folding and then some waving about with a pokey tool, needle and thread and then i have a book. like knitting a sock, really... and i'm sure lots of people have super powers like this, whether they make books too, or socks, or any other awesome thing that not everyone can do and i think that is great and i think that we should all be more aware of our own special super powers.
what's your super power?
lots of love! xxx
